Description

Annalise Keating (Academy-Award Nominee Viola Davis) is everything you hope your Criminal Law professor will be - brilliant, passionate, creative and charismatic. She's also everything you don't expect - sexy, glamorous, unpredictable and dangerous. As fearless in the courtroom as she is in the classroom, Annalise is a defense attorney who represents the most hardened, violent criminals - people who've committed everything from fraud to arson to murder - and she'll do almost anything to win their freedom. On the surface, Annalise seems like she has it all - a successful career and loving husband, Sam (Tom Verica) - but her relationship with a local Philadelphia detective, Nate (Billy Brown), will force her to confront secrets about her life she never saw coming. Each year, Annalise selects a group of the smartest, most promising students to come work at her law firm. The students vying for this coveted position include Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch), a wide-eyed, likable boy-next-door recently accepted off the waitlist; Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King), a confident, ambitious overachiever born knowing how to "lean in;" Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee), a sly, sophisticated heartbreaker used to getting any prize he lays his eyes on; Laurel Castillo (Karla Souza), a quiet, sensitive idealist who's easy to underestimate and Asher Millstone (Matt McGorry), an entitled know-it-all born into a world of Ivy League educations and country club memberships. The students all work under two of Annalise's dedicated associates: Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber), a local Philly boy done good, and Bonnie Winterbottom (Liza Weil), a sweet, observant team-player with a hidden edge. Little do they know that they will have to apply what they learned in class towards real life, in this masterful, sexy, suspense-driven legal thriller from Shondaland, the executive producers of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal.

Characters are a little annoying at first, but you learn to love them as the season progresses, recommend 10/10.

I will support this show for as long as it airs and even after it is discontinued. God PLEASE forbid such a horrid thing. I pray that it may continue to air for as long as Grey's Anatomy or the longest aired show in history. I am in love with everything that has anything to do with How to Get Away With Murder and Viola Davis; mostly Queen Vee. Please support this show guys. You will love every single moment of it. I can't make this up!

This show is amazing. I have rewatched this season four times. This show had me watching till 5 am to see what happened next. I will always go back and rewatch this every so often because I love the story and the characters. I love Annalise and Bonnie and Frank. If your new to the show be grateful you don't have to wait a week for each episode.

I was fairly interested in this series at the beginning...but after a while I realized that what passed for a "plot" was just a series of repetitious flash forwards (the same ones over and over and over) to some shocking future scene taken out of context so that the viewer would ask "How did THAT happen?" I guess these flash forwards and the endless, mindless, meaningless sexual couplings of just about anybody with anybody are meant to make people keep watching. I can't believe this is being shown on TV. The least they could do is rate it TV-MA. Probably wouldn't make much difference, but at least it would have been a gesture for a little "truth in advertising".
  • I Don’t Get What The Fuss Is About

Viola Davis is an outstanding actress, but her role is basically a minor rewrite of Olivia Pope in Scandal: strong woman, always three steps ahead of everyone else as one outrageous twist after another gets thrown at her. The problem is, the twists work in Scandal because it’s not meant to be realistic or convincing. In HTGAWM — which is nominally about the law and the construction of a logical and plausible defense — it’s unbelievable to the point of being silly. The weak plot isn’t helped by some weak performances by the supporting cast. Alfred Enoch (Wes) spends most of his time with his head cocked looking like someone just ran over his puppy. Charlie Weber (Frank) talks like an escapee from a B gangster flick. The little lawyering that does take place is mostly done by the first-year law students, and consists of sleeping with people in order to get information or provide material for a blackmail. That almost works in the early episodes; after all, they’re first years and don’t know any better. But after the script goes back to that same well again and again and again, it just feels lazy. For me, at least, this show definitely doesn’t live up to the hype.

Love the details surrounding the legal material and how its implemented. The show was sort of difficult to distinguish between the past and present events, but eventually you catch on. Love every characters role in the series and hope that it continues to be suspenseful. !!!!!
