Description

Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire is back in the saddle for a third thrilling season. After winning his heated re-election as Absaroka County sheriff vs. his ambitious deputy Branch Connally, Walt Longmire faces a stampede of problems both personal and professional. With Branch mysteriously shot on “the Rez” by the White Warrior spirit of a dead man and Henry arrested in connection to the murder of Walt’s wife’s killer, Longmire finds himself butting heads with tribal police, big money connections and longstanding feuds. Add to this his daughter Cady’s pursuit of the truth regarding her mother’s killer, his deputy Vic Moretti’s already strained marriage now under pressure with another unwelcome return from her Philadelphia past, and the inevitable rural undercurrent of murder, secrets and betrayal and get ready for Big Sky drama at its best. Last season, Walt and his deputies each braved a storm and did it nobly. But for every storm, there is an aftermath.

Can't wait for season 4 on netflix. Highly recommend! Help keep this show alive! This show doesn't rely on technology to do their job, a lot of it is survival. Great Show!

The best show out there. Can't believe I waited so long to watch this show. Just wish I knew about it sooner. So glad Netflix is going to continue the saga.

So well written. Each season gets better and better. It's like the Marlboro man in real life... With all the qualities you hope for. Can't believe A & E cancelled their most watched show.

One of my favorite TV shows. All 3 seasons are great, but the first two are my favorite. Love the diversity of the cast.

This is the show that took over for Breaking Bad ending. This time the protagonist is a good guy, who at times finds it difficult to stay good and get the job done. The characters are well developed and there is never a boring episode. There are plenty of subplots and major plots running at the same time to keep you thinking. I even get a kick out of Lou Diamond Phillips and his "Yoda" way of talking. This show should run for plenty of seasons and I hope it does.

Longmire is one of my favorite shows. I have watched all of them. I like the interplay of the "white" world with the "native" world. I have friends and family that are Native Americans and I have witnessed the two world views and they are vastly different. This is one of the things that intrigue me about the show. Keep in mind it is a "drama" not a documentary. A HUGE difference between the two....SMKindall

I absolutely loved session 1+2. And characters/actors in 3 are better, more solid in rolls. But writing and directing are noticeably worse. Episode 1, attempting to raise the sexual bar between sherif and deputy was about as subtle as a Mac tuck sneaking through a tunnel while gently tugging its air horn to let other cars know it was there. Seriously? What crap writing and directing. Don't fail your actors, guys. I hope the studio didn't give you a raise. You have not earned it.

I read a review the other day that has bothered me ever since so I felt the need to respond. Longmire is about as far as you can get from being disrespectful to Native American culture and beliefs. It addresses modern day issues of course but not in a disrespectful way and juxtaposes them with ties to how a respect for tradition and heritage is a path to solve these issues. The character of Walt Longmire actually expresses his spiritual side through Native American belief. It is clear that he has found more truth and enlightenment through this expression if spirituality than one typically raised within an Anglo American cultural system. Walt is also a flawed character that strives to be the best man he can be for himself and his community despite his shortcomings and challenges. The Native American characters are powerful as well as flawed making them easy to identify with and more approachable. My favorite is the character of Mathias, the Chief of the Tribal Police. He is resentful of Walt's interference on Indian matters but as the series has progressed has shown himself to care just as much as Walt and struggles with this interaction. He sees that Walt is trying to do the right thing but still doesn't trust him and who can blame him what with personal and historical president not to trust any non-Native American. Longmire is a story about a flawed man trying to do the right thing in a flawed world with a cast of other well meaning but equally flawed supporting characters some with different views about what is the right thing to do. How is that any different than life itself. The point to my rant is that Longmire isn't disrespectful to Native American beliefs and Culture. If anything it celebrates all of it; the good and the bad. In it we see ourselves and those around us. We see issues and struggles that are common in just about any community in this country. These same issues occur in white communities, black communities, Asian communities, Hispanic communities, etc across this country. In recognizing our similarities we can come together to recognize that we have more in common than we thought and can then appreciate and celebrate our differences. Longmire is an entertaining show. It isn't preaching or moralizing anymore than it is divisive. I see people struggle with themselves and still work for the common good. That makes me feel good about myself and that I can also do good as I'm working and struggling with my own issues. This is the type of television I want to watch. If you do too then I think you will enjoy Longmire too.
