Description

In the wake of King Uther’s sudden death, chaos threatens to engulf Britain. When the sorcerer Merlin (Joseph Fiennes of Shakespeare In Love) has visions of a dark future, he installs the young and impetuous Arthur (Jamie Campbell Bower of the Twilight series), Uther’s unknown son and heir, who has been raised from birth as a commoner. But Arthur’s cold and ambitious half-sister Morgan (Eva Green of Casino Royale) will fight him to the bitter end, summoning unnatural forces to claim the crown in this epic battle for control. These are dark times indeed for the new king, with Guinevere (Tamsin Egerton of The Mists of Avalon) being the only shining light in his harsh world. Faced with profound moral decisions, and the challenge of uniting a kingdom broken by war and steeped in deception, Arthur will be tested beyond imagination. Forget everything you think you know…this is the story of Camelot that has never been told before.

I was so disappointed with the cancellation of this series. I love GOT, but I enjoyed this series much more. Still, I enjoyed it every couple of years.

Eva Green is the only reason to watch. She’s amazing in this as in everything she does. Everything else is drivel.

  • So much potential

I was raised on the stories of King Arthur and his Knights, and when I got older I discovered game of thrones and once again I was swept away in a world of dragons, knights and prophecies. This show could have merged the two and got very close, however it fell very short. The show has some major pacing problems, and some down right terrible writing and casting. However I see so much potential in the show. Given more time it could have been one of the best TV shows on air. I would like to add that it's very cool that they set it during the dark ages/earlier Middle Ages as apposed to the High Middle Ages.

Many months ago, I formed an appreciation of Jamie Campbell Bower after watching The Mortal Instruments film. This led me to marathon all the movies and TV shows Jamie Campbell Bower has starred in. I've stumbled across beautiful jewels such as this spectacular Arthurian mini-series! <3 I absolutely loved the complex plot arc and dynamic character development over the span of the episodes. Truly a pity this show wasn't renewed for a second season...srsly Camelot deserved another season! At least I own this show so I can re-watch it as many times as I want.
  • Terrible Purchase

First off..there is no second season, the show was discontinued, that alone makes it a bad buy. I am a big fan of what the Arthurian Legend stands for. The King Arthur I grew up reading and hearing about possessed infallable virtues that could not be shaken by any man. This show absolutely DESTROYS that vision within the first 3 episodes! Here Arthur looks like a weasely little teenager and only shows a few brief glimpes of greatness. You know the story of Lancelot and Guinevere right? Well they destroyed that too, by replacing Lancelot with Leontes, and the story begins with Leontes and Guin already engaged, while Arthur tries to destroy the relationship and becomes a jealous little girl when he fails and they wind up getting married. He then continues to try..it was PATHETIC! What happened to the king known for honor and loyalty? Oh but there's still the story of Merlin and the Sword in the Stone right? Wrong, also destroyed. I won't ruin the suspense for you but they completely rewrote how that happened for dramatic purposes. BUT, if you have absolutely zero care for the traditional great King Arthur then by all means watch it, there's some cool sword play and beautiful women at least.

  • When I die. . .

When I die I'll be demanding the time I wasted watching this show back from God. Three great actors stuck in unfortunate roles. I wonder what lies they had been told that made them take these parts (Morgana, Merlin, and Igrane did well with the utter crap they were given). You can tell Merlin's actor had seen the show for what it was, had lost any delusions of salvage ability, and finally "checked out" by the merciful end of the series. The shows writers, producers, set designers, and directors owe them a big apology for this travesty. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend, may, however serve to troll an enemy. I wouldn't make Hellen Keller sit through this dung heap. King Arthur's character was not cast well. His "knights of the round table" come off more as a hodge-podge of mostly circle-jerking college buddies whose leader accidentally slips and falls root first into his best bros wife. . . Cue cue battle with baddies culminating with some bro's bro hugging it out. . . Bro. This plays out with 0 chemistry on screen. The plot is a godawful mishmash of badly interpreted literature from the actual Arthurian legends, and your probably not favorite day time soap opera. I feel dumber for having watched this show. The worst part though is that I ever gave it a chance in the first place. It looked cheap on the previews, but I was desperate for a truly great and grand retelling of some of my favorite legends of old. I idiotically expected justice be done to the source materiel, and as much respect and care given it as one would give Shakespeare. I get the feeling Joseph Fiennes, Claire Forlani and Eva Green - if not the rest of the cast agree and likely felt duped by Starz. I would rate this show 0/10, would not watch again.

Hate to tell all of you this but there is no second season. Its over,done...finished. Season 2 was cancelled due to lack of viewers and high production costs. I would love to see it carry on and am truly truly mad but they wont continue :,(
