Description

The lawless era in Deadwood is coming to an end. As the town's first elections approach, strategic alliances that protect hard-earned interests become more critical than ever. Facing down an unexpected threat from one powerful man aiming to reshape the town in his image, the founders must put up their strongest fronts if they expect to thrive — and survive. A new chapter begins in Season 3 of the award-winning HBO drama series that focuses on the evolution of an American frontier town, and the ruthless power struggle between its inhabitants. The settlers introduced in Seasons 1 and 2 — including now-sheriff Seth Bullock (Timothy Olyphant) and saloon owner Al Swearengen (Golden Globe® Award-winner Ian McShane) — continue to share a restlessness of spirit, heightened by the influx of ambitious new residents, in particular George Hearst, a tycoon with a lust for gold . . . and absolute power.

A gripping series of frontier grit and lore. Deserves 5 stars but the lack of a conclusion warrants 4 stars.

Love “Deadwood.” Hetm “Hystufued” fubusges yo ub 2014, Sorry it was cancelled so abruptly. Great writing and acting. “justified” with Tim Oliphant finishes up in 2015. How about a sequel to “Deadwood?” Love Ian McShane, too.

I only saw a few episodes in Deadwood's original run but it was a show I knew I wanted to see eventually. I've finally seen every episode on iTunes and I agree that Deadwood was one of the best tv shows ever and it was cancelled far too soon by HBO.

Get past the bad language and this show with its raw characters and poetic swearing, will woo you to watch more. Absoluely enjoyed the three seasons and hope in the future there are more.

As others have said, watching this show will give you a new perspective on what it is to be a human, a man or a woman, and an American. In my opinion, one of the most profound and fundamentally American works of art in the history not just of television but of our nation. The only thing that keeps this from being a perfect television show is that circumstances conspired to deny it a proper ending. Deadwood made many lists of the top shows of the 2000–2009 decade, and I doubt anybody who's seen it will disagree. As a warning, it is extremely crude and violent. The treatment of women is cringeworthy and abhorrent, though I found a lot to relate to and admire in the women of the show. Like the men, they are surviving and trying to improve their stations by every means available to them. Deadwood is raw human potential, beauty and darkness together. It contains a few scenes of shocking violence that I tend to wish I hadn't seen, but they are never gratuitous. Even if you don't like the swearing and the violence, it's worth sitting through it.

Easily one of my favorite shows of the past several years. The acting is solid, and while it takes a little while to get used to some of the language, the story lines of each episode are really good! I recommended this show to several people, and they all came back raving about it!
  • Idiots.

Best damn writing on television. When the morons at HBO cancelled this masterpiece after 3 seasons (after also ending the excellent "Carnivale" on a cliff-hanger) we cancelled our subscription to HBO.

Studio's have a responsibility to keep the public trust that they will follow through with those stories and episodes which have enough viewers to sustain the production. I loved Season one and most of season two but after finding out that the series was dropped, leaving those who invested time into a series where they knew each character intimately, I decided not to buy season three and stopped watching two thirds of the way through season two. I makes you Leary of watching new productions by this studio as they could and probably will leaving you hanging again.
