Description

Steve Forrest stars as the head of a Special Weapons and Tactics team in a fictional U.S. city in the original S.W.A.T.: a realistic police show before its time. Executive producers Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg planned a two-hour episode of The Rookies involving S.W.A.T. training under a tough cop, but ABC liked the show so much it ordered a new series centered around Forrest and the S.W.A.T. team. Lt. Dan "Hondo" Harrelson (Forrest) is a tough cop, who's also a vulnerable and human person, and certainly not a superhuman. Prominent members of the highly trained and heavily armed team are Sgt. David "Deacon" Kay (Rod Perry) and Officer Jim Street (Robert Urich).

Like several other TV series of the past Apple iTunes offers a single season of a multi season show, and then drops it. Even on some current made offerings. I stopped even considering buying "Season Passes" after one show offered that, then delivered Ep 1-6, and stopped. I called Apple to ask why they only deliverd part of a season when I paid for the whole season, they offered excuses about the studio not delivering, but after several weeks of calling and even threatening a lawsuit . . . magically, the unavailble episodes showed up on my iTunes. Now we have S.W.A.T. season one, and I suspect season two son't be offered. Not to mention that they took Episode 5 of season 2 and made it Episode 8 of season 1. But I digress.

I agree with the majority. It was one of the best at it's time. Mark Shera was a heart-throb in his day!! Absoutely love that I can reconnect with my teenage years thru this movie. Love it, you won't be disappointed!

Their acting wasn't the best in tv history. Nor would they go down in the books as a classic. Had it not been for the reprisal of the series' characters in the badass cult classic S.W.A.T, names like "Hondo" and "Jim Street" wouldn't ring bells. But that doesn't really matter. S.W.A.T was a good show, and not just any good show. Due to its TV-14 violance, tv executives at the time were becoming too nervous airing it to a country who still had at least a little innocence left in it. thats why it would meet an early demise. Looking back, this is evidence that we've come a long way from the values we once charished. Regardless of what you might think about the content of this show, it was trully one of the most kickass shows ever created.

Can you believe that this show got canceled because it was deemed too violent at the time? Are you kidding me, this is kids stuff compared to waht's on TV now. I guess people who watch TV in the '70s couldn't handle a good show. You have got to buy this, actuallly buying the DVD might be cheaper online than buying from iTunes, I'm telling you, this is my favorite TV show of the '70s, even though I was born in the '80s. I hope Season Two gets released soon, can't wait.
