Description

Equal parts infuriating and illuminating, THE KILL TEAM looks at the devastating moral tensions that tear at soldiers’ psyches through the lens of one highly personal and emotional story. Private Adam Winfield was a 21-year-old soldier in Afghanistan when he attempted with the help of his father to alert the military to heinous war crimes his platoon was committing. But Winfield’s pleas went unheeded. Left on his own and with threats to his life, Private Winfield was himself drawn into the moral abyss, forced to make a split-second decision that would change his life forever.

  • So Sad

I’m sad that some soldiers who see this film believe that any criticism of individuals or systems in the military equals an attack on the U.S. and an attack on the military. Criticism is not an attack on all good people in the military. It is an attempt to stop the murder of innocents. Is criticism not allowed even when it’s meant to stop murder? I’m sad that this film wasn’t better. There was a lot of moody music and images, and not enough information. It is a worthy subject. I wish I understood that subject better.

What he is claiming may have some truth. In "With the Old Breed" by EB Sledge he talks about how his fellow Marines were cutting the gold out of the teeth of Japenese soldiers who were still alive. Thus is the brutality of war and the effect on the young men sent out to kill. It's not any different than the rise of rape by male servicemen of fellow female servicemen in Iraq. My question is why doesn't the entertainment industry want to highlight those who serve honorably?

instead of dismissing this film out of blind patriotism, actually do some research into the subject. While I support our military whole heartedly (my grandfather, father, and brother were/are all in the army) it doesn’t change the fact that these events did happen in the Maywand District of Afghanistan
  • The keys details are the ones never told.

Although this film depicts an event that the public should be informed of, I don't believe we get the entire picture. Most documentaries fall short in this regard by leaving out details (either deliberately or due to unknowns). It all depends on the accuracy of the main soldier. How much of his story is true? I will say, however, that I fully understand the U.S. Military's motivation to withhold any story that is either unflattering or downright illegal. This is not to say I'm an opponent of our Armed Forces; in fact, I love our Defense Forces and believe that without it, we would not be the country we are today. Overall, I want to form a strong opinion about this film but just feel lacking in all the evidence within.

Who comes up with this stuff. REALLY!!!! The said thing is cilivians will see this and think it is all true. This is a make believe story sold as real covered up information no one wanted you to find out about. Pure dog poo. The people that gave it 4 tomatoes never served and really know nothing about the miliatry let alone seen action. This behavior would not have been covered up but dealt with swiftly and quickly. The military serves and protects. It helps many people around the world. This movie is morally and ethically wrong to portray it as reality. This movie is a real dishonor to vets and active duty personel.

This documentary keeps your attention. I don't think it represents the whole military, but there are always a few that power can corrupt. I feel bad for the young man and his parents caught in a system that would not listen. I do think that if the young man talked he would not be alive today. You can see from the messages the struggle he was having.

  • Not My Military

While I cannot speak for how this individual soldier was trained, I can speak for the hundreds I have trained, worked, fought, and lived next to. Not a single one was told that their job was to kill everything in their path nor to intentionally or unintentionally break the law. This film is nothing more than a warmongering anti-military propaganda film trying to discredit the United States Military and what they actual do accomplish. There are certainly incidents that do occur, as will in any large organization, but that does not represent the majority nor should it condemn their intent.

I highly recommend this documentary, not only for the eye-opening treatment of a very relevant subject matter, but also because it never failed to keep me engaged. A great portrayal of men at war unlike anything I've seen recently. A must-see overall.
