Lucas is just starting to get his life back together after losing his job and facing a difficult divorce, when his life is shattered by an untruthful remark, throwing his small community into a collective state of hysteria. As the lie spreads, Lucas is forced to fight a lonely battle for his life and dignity.

Its disturbing subject matter, not easy to watch, but the movie is so well done, masterfully constructed.

An intense, hard to watch drama indeed. What a gripping and harrowing story about a community that turns on one of their own, by the mere whisper of something so unthinkable, (yet, unfortunately, plausible in todays twisted world), that it becomes their “truth". As a society, we have become so paranoid, that we're afraid to hug our own children etc. An interesting myopic on how things can get out of hand and go awry if we aren’t careful… the proverbial “witch hunt”. The acting is superb - Mads deserves all the accolades he’s receiving. I hope this one wins the Oscar for best foreign film. The Danes certainly know how to tell engaging stories and make great films and TV dramas. (Hollywood could learn a thing or two…)

Well written, wonderfully delivered, and fantastically acted. Easily one of the best films I’ve seen recently and I watch plenty of films.

It’s amazing. Such a dignity, in such a subtle way. How incredibly powerful the darkness and dignity of mankind could be. And Mads Mikkelsen’s acting is beyond description.
  • I hope it wins the Oscar

Gripping movie with top shelf acting and directing. Mads Mikkelson should be nominated for best actor in any category.

Very heavy and emotional movie. Excellent acting. Worth seeing but keep in mind that there is zero entertainment value here - just a true drama in the full sense of the word.
