Description

From Disney and Producer Jerry Bruckheimer comes all the fun, epic adventure and humor that ignited the original. Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. A tale of truth, betrayal, youth, demise — and mermaids! When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he's not sure if it's love, or if she's a ruthless con artist using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. Forced aboard the ship of the most feared pirate ever, Jack doesn't know who to fear more —Blackbeard (Ian McShane) or the woman from his past. Directed by Rob Marshall, it's filled with eye-popping battle scenes, mystery and all-out wit.

When Jack & Barbossa were on the screen I actually enjoyed the movie somewhat, but overall it is likely the worst(maybe 2nd worst) in the series as the other characters are forgettable(minus good ol Gibbs). Blackbeard prior to appearing in person was described as super terrifying and while his ability to control the ship was kinda cool, except that apparently anybody can do it just by using his sword, he didn’t really ever live up to his reputation. Angelica was also fairly uninteresting though her banter with Jack could be amusing on occasion though how they introduced her was kinda stupid to me. Overall both characters massively fell flat when compared to former antagonists in the series. It also felt ridiculous that apparently now that Will & Elizabeth were out of the picture they kinda felt like they had to replace them by putting together a missionary and a mermaid because why not. I mean it’s not like she eats humans or anything. 🙄 Don’t get why they felt like a pirate themed movie had to have a romantic pairing to be interesting. Also why she helped Jack use the fountain is a mystery as it doesn’t make any remote sense.
  • Not the best of the series, but still entertaining

While the bulk of the original cast is sorely missed in this installment, it’s still very entertaining. You have pirates, amazing sword fights, mermaids, and zombies. Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow never disappoints. Ian McShane does a great job as Black Beard. I think the problem is just the overall writing, plot, and pacing. Not my favorite of the series but still entertaining.

Look, this isn’t that bad of a movie. In fact, I seem to enjoy it (slightly) more than many others do. Rob Marshall guides this ship as best he could, but the presence of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are tremendously missed as On Stranger Tides struggles to stay afloat—threatening to sink from the attacks of a dull romantic subplot and an uncharacteristically bland Ian McShane. Johnny Depp, as always, seems to give this the few life it has, though. 5/10

Umm, is this a year early or what? Why are we having reviews when the movie isn’t even out yet? The movie LOOKS great but, it looks like there is a “ love moment “ and I find that duisgusting. And starts of a new ship. GREAT. 1 star minus for that. The rest looks awesome, I find the mythical creatures cool. And the fighting. My Roblox friends name which is great.

You should really read the books-not the junior ones or the ones based off of the actual movies but the books. They are outstanding. I don’t know if they are available anymore though. Anyway, I am a really big fan. #1 fan right here. When you read the books you can know a lot more about the characters than just in the movies. Love it! Also, great soundtracks! I really have to owe a lot of the credit to the music. Without it, I wouldn’t really feel THERE. Also a huge fan for Ham Zimmer and Klaus Badelt! The first one beats them all still, because it was the best even though all of them are funny. For me in my favorite order, this is how it goes: 1-The Curse Of The Black Pearl, 4- On Stranger Tides, 3-At Worlds End, 2-Dead Men’s Chest, and lastly, 5-Dead Men Tell No Tales. And to prove that the first one was the best, at the end of the movie in theaters everyone stood up and clapped after the movie like they did for Avengers Endgame! It was the best! I’m the Pirate’s number one fan!
  • Wondering if you should watch this movie?

Well, let me give you some advice. I watched this movie, even though it got worse reviews than the others because I had already seen the first 3 and really wanted to watch the 5. I figured I would be lost in the 5 without seeing this. Well, turns out, because this movie did not do as great, they went in a totally different direction with POC #5. So you could skip over this one if you want. It is not a horrible movie, contrary to some people's beliefs. None of the Pirates movies were. However, definitely could have been better. They had all new characters, (no Bloom or Knightly, sadly). So if Elizabeth and Will were your favorites, skip this one. On the other hand, if you love Jack Sparrow and the Pirates franchise a lot, then consider watching this movie. You may like it.
