Superior performance by both JP and Director. It was brilliant! Thank you both...and for the d-bags that can't comprehend or appreciate this film, I pity you!

How they fooled everyone is a great example of how ridiculous people are. How people will buy into anything the media tells them. Hands down, the best example of how stupid people are and how they will sadly huddle around hype.
  • Duped

A film that tried to dupe the world and expose the industry, instead, Affleck and Phoenix just duped themselves and exposed nothing. Horrible waste of time.

That sums up this movie in a nutshell. With a premise similar to Borat, Joaquin fools the American media and the viewers into believing we are truly experiencing his collapse from award winning actor, to a horrible rapper with all the quirks of a true nutjob. There are countless clips if him convincing the media he is on a downward spiral and is slowly losing his mind. The most notable of which was the classic David Letterman appearance, which is included and shows how he brilliantly pulled off this epic stunt!

This movie brings forth knowledge intelligent people are already aware of - actors are puppets. Actors are people who are told where to stand, where to look, what to look like and how to speak. Yes, we get it you are bored with your life and instead of pursuing something from a deeper perspective, you pick another meaningless route to fame. Joaquin seems to be drifting through emotions that most people go through, the questions of life and being sick and tired of playing art instead of making it. Who hasn't gotten bored or unhappy with their life choices? The initial idea may have been genius, but what makes these people think anyone actually cares? Joaquin for all his talent shows up on camera looking like a disrespectful, spoiled child. He is in his thirties, yet acts as if he is in high school and his career is disposable. His lack of talent and lust for his new passion is what makes this movie fail at life. This movie is an interesting case study for our times- it carefully documents narcissistic humans at their highest point and it shows how fantasy and reality bleeds together to show that fiction may not always be false. Joaquin, I hope you find a way to fill that void... Thankfully it won't be $6.99 of my money, I watched it at a free screening.
