Description

Judy Garland, Van Johnson and silent comedy icon Buster Keaton star in this delightful musical when love can bloom between the most unlikely of couples In the Good Old Summertime. When lonely Veronica Fisher (Garland) places an advertisement in the paper inviting correspondence with an intelligent young man, a romance blossoms between Fisher and Andrew Delby Larkin (Van Johnson), even though the two never meet. Meanwhile, Fisher takes a job at a local music store--working with Larkin. The two actively dislike each other at work, unaware that they are ardently writing to each other at night. Sooner or later, the truth will come out, but when it does will Fisher and Larkin find love or separate In the Good Old Summertime?

I love the story of rivals falling in love. I love all three versions: Shop around the corner, In the good old summertime, and You've got mail. They're all awesome.

I love this movie, and would recomend it to anyone from 1 to 100! It is so cute and one of my personal favorites. I never get tired of Judy or Van, and putting them together in this classic film was no mistake! Two other movies that have the same plot and are just as wonderful are, "The Shop Around the Corner" ( the origanal one, with James Stewart) and also "You've Got Mail" ( a more recent release, staring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks). Whatever one you choose, all three are wonderful and you will not be disapointed.
