  • “ Excalibur and At the time a rather Trippy State Of Euphoria “

One night about a month after the lead singer in the band I played Guitar for was arrested, sentenced to 3 1/2 years and at the time of his sentencing he had already spent 1 1/2 years in the Los Angeles County Jail. Any way, all that was 1 1/2 years to come but in November of 1981, It was only a Month and myself and the other bewildered Professor’s of the power of Rock and Roll and its ability to transform the worse situations into Good ones if our minds were in the right place. In those days that theory was abandoned for a kind of FEAR I had not yet or have since felt. It was in the confusion And bewilderment that we arrived at a friend of a friends to Drop some LSD and we did. This friend had just purchased a VHS Of “ Excalibur “ and asked if we would like to relax and be safe tripping at his home and watch the movie. I had no idea what the movie was about but from the opening credits I knew it would be a great visual experience. I was so in a state of erupted sincerity as I came on slowly to Peak with great strength and literally in a state that I felt I was in the storyline myself. It is the Best most serious and exciting yet Funny too and as the things I know now about The True King Arthur’s ( there were two Arthur’s that became Welsh Kings about 200 years apart and in fact the Second Arthur had travelled to the American continent with his Brother whom were killed by local people ( why? No one knows but it is become known that the story is true) they were killed in the Kentucky region.only Arthur was brought back to Great Britain. In any case, Excalibur Rocked me that night and now that I have purchased it, I intend to blow some new younger minds like mine was and keep the the story alive as it truly is a tale we all must have a soft spot for. And have a look at Patrick Stewart ( Captain Picard from Star Trek The Next Generation ) I hardly recognized him and did not know him at all in 1981 as the next generation debut in 1988. Enjoy, You won’t be disappointed Excalibur is Rock’N! Sincerely: Tim @Seattle
  • One Of the Greatest Films Ever Made

Before Star Wars was introduced to the world in 1977, the movies that were being made were dull and full of anti-heroes. It was all real world situations, there was no fantasy or adventure. Then George Lucas’s epic space opera was released, and this change film forever. The movies that came out after Star Wars were full of adventure, fantasy, and the classic good versus evil struggle. Excalibur is a direct product of that change. However, it is very different from all other films made during that time. The reason for this is the acting. It is very Shakespearean and dramatic to the point where it is so cheesy but at the same time so beautiful and powerful and moving. It’s very reminiscent of the acting of classical Hollywood actors. The story is actually more story driven more than it is character driven. This, combined with the imagery, the score, and the overall theme of the film make it one of the most unique and in my opinion one of the greatest films of all time.
  • The most encompassing tale of King Arthur.

I have yet to view another legend of King Arthur movie on par with Excalibur. No other movie has attempted to include such an expanse of his tale from birth until death regarding Arthur. It will forever be one of my all time film favorites!

Never saw the movie until today..been meaning to watch it for many years. The movie is definitely dated. Reminds me of the old kung fu movies in terms of the bad acting, direction, cinematography and editing. I could barely get through this movie its so bad. Horrible filmmaking. That being said, the cast, costumes, locations and sets are fantasic, better than most modern movies

The legend is taken very seriously and given a mature telling using gorgeous dreamlike cinematography, compelling performances, epic battles and a fantastic score (made up of classic Wagner and Carl Orff along with new pieces from Trevor Jones - the composer of Labyrinth, Dark Crystal and Last of the Mohicans) to powerful effect. It's full of mystery, surreal adventures, gritty, gory battles and rousing, inspiring moments. There has never been a telling of Arthur and his Knights this satisfying before, and will never be equaled. This is a most own for cinema fans.

Ok so you can't get the four hour VHS tape anymore. This movie is still the best King Arthur movie ever made. You will love it. Get the popcorn and buy or rent. You can't go wrong. Speak the charm of making.
