    Childish, unbelievable, silly, formulaic. I have no idea how this script made it through the development process. A guy who doesn't know anything... [insert here anything that happens in the film]. All of the racing make-believe stuff is one thing, but the whole doctor thing is beyond believable - ethically, technically, everything. It is a pathetically weak sister to Top Gun. If you want to see a real racing film, watch Le Mans with Steve McQueen.

    Ok so I’m 13 and my dad knew I was a huge nascar fan and showed this movie. It went way beyond my expectations in a good way. This is the best movie I have ever seen.

    Saw this movie in the theaters as a kid.....loved it then and still love it now. As crazy as it sounds, not a fan of NASCAR at all, but this movie hit the right spots. A lot of it is Cruise formulaic, but don't let that deter you from seeing this. Robert Duvall seems to steal the show though, as he does many times.

    The thing that people can't get past is that this was released in 1990 and if you watch the action scenes it's some solid camera work. It's a good story line and fun..nothing more, nothing less. It wasn't supposed to win Oscars. It was the version of Top Gun in a car. Just enjoy it for what it's worth!
