Description

After the release of Jake Blues (John Belushi) from prison, he and brother Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) go to visit the orphanage where they were raised by nuns. They learned that the church stopped its support and will sell the place unless the tax on the property is paid with 11 days. The brothers decide to raise the money by putting their blues band back together and staging a big gig. They may be on a "mission from God" but they're making enemies everywhere they go. Featuring performances by some of blues finest, James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and co-starring John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Henry Gibson and Steve Lawrence.

This was my very first time seeing this movie. I can see why its such a classic. Cameo appearances from legendary r&b singers. I honestly like this one better than Blues Brothers 2000.
  • the ending, ugh!

I thought it was good most of the way. But, the end just got plain ridiculous. It lost me at the end.

I love this movie. From the music to the scenes, this movie has it all. Tons of great music, comedy, and quotes; it's hard to not love it! My band teacher first showed me this movie because we were playing I Can't Turn You Loose and Everybody Needs Somebody, but after seeing those scenes, I couldn't help but buy the movie to see it all, and I've shared it through my family, becoming a favorite of the household. Defintely worth the purchase!

This is in my opinion the perfect comedy. Hilarious catchphrases, funny acting, and hilarious plot. But the best part I would have to say is the amazing soundtrack, it is just absurdly good. If you are looking for a great comedy to watch with friends or if your just feeling like laughing this movie will surely fit into either situation.

I totally love this movie. It really shows off not only Chicago (they actually filmed one part not to far from my relative's house), but blues music as well. I have never seen a movie that makes me laugh so much no matter how much I watch it as well as make me dance and sing along. It's got a bit of everything...action, romance (well, from a flame-throwing, gun toting Carrie Fisher who is awesome in this!), music, dancing, comedy, drama, cowboys, cops, swat, and the dreaded Illinois nazis. Great cameos by great musicians and actors alike. Plus, it actually gives a good message. Don't think about it...just get it! "I Have Seen the Light!"
