Description

In medieval times, a youthful pickpocket befriends a strange knight who is on a mysterious quest. This unlikely duo, accompanied by a watchful hawk, are enveloped in a magical adventure. Matthew Broderick ("The Freshman," "Glory"), Academy Award-nominee Michelle Pfeiffer ("Batman Returns," "Dangerous Minds") and Rutger Hauer ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Blade Runner") star in this medieval romantic adventure, nominated for two Academy Awards. Co-starring John Wood ("Sabrina"). Produced and directed by Richard Donner ("Maverick," "Superman"), Siskel & Ebert call this "fabulous... a magically wonderful movie... a real classic!" The Los Angeles Times says it "soars... it's enchanted, enthralling, marvelous; a bold, beautiful vision" and Gene Shalit calls it "amazing... a double popcorn picture that casts a spell, which is why 'Ladyhawke' spells pleasure."

  • Terrible Transfer and Fullscreen

The transfer is brutal and it’s in fullscreen rather than in widescreen. Find a copy of the Blu-ray and wait to buy the digital version until they provide this film in a better version

Ladyhawke is a wonderful movie/story. It has been out on BluRay for a while now, so I am not sure why they have refused to update the version here from the old SD 4:3 release to the widescreen HD version. I would buy it in a second if they did.

I just want to thank everyone for warning me about the poor quality of this movie. When I say poor quality I mean the sound and the picture the movie itself is terrific I’ve seen it many times I would love to own it but not until they bring the wide screen version and improve the quality of the picture in the sound. iTunes we are waiting!

Good movie, but they couldn’t even bother to reissue in widescreen format. Disappointed.

I don’t know how Warner Bros. had the nerve to charge $12.99 for this. Not only is it not even in DVD quality, let alone 1080 or 4K, it looks like someone set a video camera in front of a 15” tv and hit record. The aspect ratio of the transfer is a square — there are black bars along the sides not the top and bottom. The audio quality also is really bad. I honestly think they digitized this video from a VHS tape. Save your money, do not buy this version.

Great movie but terrible picture. it's 2019 and this movie is only available in Standard Definition. This is unacceptable and should be updated for HD or 4K.

Ladyhawke itself is a great movie. This is a ghastly print that looks like it was printed straight from a VHS tape—poor resolution, panned and scanned to the old NTSD 4:3 aspect ratio... just awful.

This is an amazingly fun movie that I've loved for years. Too bad about the horrible full-screen, pan-and-scan copy. Wish I could return it. I have seen high-quality, letterboxed versions, so I know they exist. I was looking forward to watching it but was severely dissapointed.
