It features an all-star cast at the top of their game and it has it’s moments where it will pull at your heartstrings; but we’ve seen this same message of “Racism bad” done over and over again, and in much better movies. How this badly written movie walked away with Best Screenplay boggles my mind. Picture every offensive racial vocabulary stereotype and then put it on film. That’s what counts as dialogue in this movie. This is simply an average melodrama with good acting that’s beating you over the head with a very heavy-handed message. Brokeback Mountain deserved Best Picture, this deserved to pass quietly into obscurity once awards season ended.

I've never written a review about anything but needed to today. This movie is so melodramatic with the acting and the music i actually almost laughed aloud at one point. (The blank bullets scene. You know the one). I was the only one in my family to be angry about it when it ended that i wasted my time.

To some, the harshness and prejudices are a turn-off, but this is a very good film and it is well deserving of its award for Best Picture. It is intelligent, particularly in the way that everything connects. Rather than making a direct statement, it allows the actions of the characters to enable the audience to interpret things. The cast is brilliant, as is the script, the direction, and the photography. For a different take along the same lines but in a more personal, mystical, and ultimately uplifting way, watch Kasdan's Grand Canyon.
  • One of the worst best pictures ever

Forever known as the film that stole Brokeback Mountain's best picture award. Just emotionally dishonest and manipulative.
  • One of the BEST Movies of all time

I can watch this one over and over again. In these current times (2016), the message is still relevant.
