Description

Based on true events, in this military thriller, a small unit of U.S. soldiers, alone at the remote Combat Outpost Keating, located deep in the valley of three mountains in Afghanistan, battles to defend against an overwhelming force of Taliban fighters in a coordinated attack. The Battle of Kamdesh, as it was known, was the bloodiest American engagement of the Afghan War in 2009 and Bravo Troop 3-61 CAV became one of the most decorated units of the 19-year conflict.

The movie blew my mind so much. I think one improvement is having both the theatrical and directors cuts should both be in one set instead of issued separately.
  • Amazing...simply put.

How disrespectful you all are... claiming to be combat vets. I am an actual combat vet who actually was in Afghanistan. 3-71 Cav out of the 10th MTN from 11-12. The retelling of this is absolutley amazing. Everything about that OP is hauntingly accurate. If any of you have been in combat... and I am saying you actually were involved in a TIK... you would have respect for the absolute silent chaos that is battle in this film. The pure essence of deployment and ambiguousness of war is serenly captured by these actors and director. By the way... Caleb Landry Jones should get an Oscar for that performance. The emotion he poured into the "final scene"... A listers couldn't do. If you want to critique film, have some relevance outside of your "sorry i'm bored in my house" monologue. Must watch and great movie...especially for those who always wanted to go intot he military... but nevere did. This is as close as you will get... coward.

For me, what could have been an acceptable movie was ruined by the worst scripting I can ever recall. Should I try it without the sound? I might actually like it better that way but I’m not spending another 99 cents rental cost to find out.

This movie is full of weird clichés by the end. I think the beginning is interesting it could’ve went somewhere but it didn’t. I thought the last scenes was way too long it made it less impactful. Then it had a hero cliché I just thought was misplaced and annoying.

I’m so mad that I paid for this movie. When the director could not do any better then a Walmart kids soldier costume he should have stopped there. But no he continued and gave the garbage lines with garbage war scenes. Then to finish it off he didn’t even dedicate the movie to any of the people who’s story he was trying to spread. As a combat vet please don’t waist your money on this movie.
  • War is hell!

But of course Americans love to watch our “brave” soldiers fight against much larger enemy and lay waste to those devils, those filthy third world crazies who are threatening us all the way here!! When in reality we are the invaders, we are the over whelming force, we are invading their land, we are a threat to their civilians! As someone who worked with the military in Afghanistan, I can tell you that the “enemy” is no more than a bunch of ill prepared, often armed with old weapons and mostly bare foot. While our soldiers are decked out in million dollar equipment, with support by satellite and bombers that will carpet bomb entire villages before soldiers set foot in the area. MOVIES LIKE THIS ARE NOTHING BUT PROPAGANDA TO JUSTIFY OUR ENDLESS OCCUPATION OF THESE COUNTRIES!

Sadly, and tragically, this movie is realistic and holds high merit. I say this due to the lives lost during that terrible battle. The movie rates 10/10 without any doubt whatsoever. Ignore the 1-star knucklehead reviews as there will always be people who simply do not understand the reality of real-life tragedy. With that said, I salute our fallen heroes as well as the survivors who stood with their brothers like heroes.
  • Great Movie, with bad viewers.

Firstly, to watch a movie based upon a true story about some of the most heroic actions in the U.S. military and then complain that the story is "slow", or that it does not have enough "action" or "plot" is just about as pathetic as it gets. Perhaps one should take a trip to Arlington cemetery and complain that its not scenic enough. I regret I have to share the world with people like those that reviewed this story in such a way. That said, it was a great story and well told. I always appreciate stories about the worlds real "super heroes" instead of the fake garbage stories about people and places that don't exist. The men portrayed in this film are the ones we should look up to and try to emulate in some way or another. They are not perfect and the language they use is not good all the time, but we ain't perfect either; and the action that these men's lives are defined by, are far more significant that most of ours. Bless them all.

This is such an amazing story. There is nothing glorious about being in the military and this movie shows it for sure. Brave men and love that it’s all real and raw.
