Description

Charming and ambitious art critic, James Figueras (Claes Bang), has fallen from grace. He spends his days in Milan lecturing witless tourists about art history. His only glimmer of hope is a new-found love interest, the enigmatic American, Berenice Hollis (Elizabeth Debicki). An opportunity strikes when he is contacted by wealthy art dealer Joseph Cassidy (Mick Jagger) who summons James to his villa on Lake Como and asks him to steal a painting from the legendary reclusive artist, Jerome Debney (Donald Sutherland). Soon, James’ greed and ambition get the better of him, and he finds himself caught in a web of his own making.

Although the movie centers around a fraudulant art expert, the movie gives the view into understanding why specific artists matter in the art world, the world of art sales, and interelatinships both on display and hidden. A hidden gem with great acting by all the actors.

So much smoking, terrible story, waste of money-I really want a refund I couldn't even finish it.

Mick Jagger steals the show, followed closely by Elizabeth Debicki. Predictable but still great fun!
  • Great Film from Start to End

Mick Jagger steals it and Debicki is mesmerizing, fairly simple story, but everyone does a great job with the insanity of the storyline! (would have been under the Thriller genre, which is weirdly missing).
  • Middling Sexy Art World Thriller

The star Claes Bang looks the part but is somehow a snooze as a sexy, fraudulent art expert, maybe because the art depicted is so banal and the Banksy-esque twist is a cop out. But Elizabeth Debicki is always fun to watch; Donald Sutherland is amazing though his lines are ridiculous; Jagger is everything—watch it for him. Maybe I wanted Anselm Keifer but got Banksy. I watched the whole movie, through to the end, that’s saying something. The lavish locations help a lot.
