Description

What could compel us to abandon our most basic instinct for self preservation? It’s not about adrenaline or thrill seeking. There is something far deeper that drives the world’s most elite group of mountain adventurers to take life threatening risks. For nearly three years, director Dina Khreino interviewed these world-class athletes, listening to what compels them to leave behind families, friends, and everyday comforts, to risk everything for a fleeting glimpse into the unknown. What she found was a tribe, a diverse group of professional adventurers and amateur philosophers, forged by the ultimate test of body, mind, and spirit. At times brutally honest, other times pensive, these athletes’ stories reveal the triumph of the human spirit, and the profound and unique connection formed as they overcome the world’s fiercest physical and mental obstacles.

This movie is endless interviews about the same tired worn out boring cliches, it literally has no storyline whatsoever. Disappointing

This is by far the most refreshing, inspiring documentary i have seen in a long time. The stories all connect to one another somehow and more than that, the layers of philosophy within this storyline is so unique. I thought I was watching a climbing film, instead it was that and much much more. I'll be watching it a few times, no doubt.

What I found I loved most about this film was the way their stories bridge over to other areas and bigger life lessons. You could learn a lot even if you're not a climber. It's a different type of climbing film - not focused on the action, but on what drives these guys to do what they do. Its a pretty rare insight into the depth and actual character of each athlete , rather than a specific climb or journey. I've watched it a couple times already and keep finding new bits to hang on to.

I’ve watched it twice already. This film is a gift to the climbing community and world at large. Much to be learned.
