Description

A dedicated group of people in Brooklyn devote their days and nights to rescuing abandoned or otherwise homeless kittens and cats. Of course, the animals are adorable, but the people are equally inspiring. Their love and commitment to actually making a difference to the lives of these animals and to affecting social change concerning the environment, local laws, and public policy is remarkable.

The Cat Rescuers is a wonderful documentary about a group of four amazing individuals who are helping cats in their own way. As many of us have walked past an animal in need these folks don't and do everything in their power to help cats in Brooklyn. Due to this they experience sadness, frustration and exhaustion, but they are making a difference. This is a great documentary for anyone who cares about animals. Stacy LeBaron-Community Cats Podcast

Tens of thousands of CATS ruling whole neighborhoods in New York City—some lost or abandoned pets, some born feral, and many in need of food and medical care. Most of us find ourselves too busy to see or care, but there are people who do see, who try help through programs like Trap-Neuter-Release. Cat Rescuers is an unsentimental and beautifully wrought film about 4 such people with extraordinary stories to tell about themselves, about the cats, about the neighborhoods the cats and people share. Wonderful!

The film is both entertaining, educational and uplifting. The rescuers in this film devote their lives to saving cats. It is a community issue however and more help is needed. If everyone got involved and did just a little bit of TNR in their own areas, as well as spay and neuter their own pets, this tragedy of pet overpopulation, could be eradicated. TNR is very rewarding.

I saw the film recently in Portland, OR. It was simultaneously heartbreaking and inspiring. I volunteer for a feral cat rescue here, Meow Village. And after watching the documentary, I have an even deeper respect for those on the front lines of rescue. Thank you for sharing these stories

This was not just a great documentary but a great film that I wish all would see. It was a touching look into the lives of cat rescuers and the plight of feral cats in our local neighborhoods. I applaud the filmmakers for trying to educate the public about this important issue and giving us more insight into the struggles and rewards of Rescuers involved with TNR and the admirable level of dedication demonstrated by these amazing people! I am in awe of them and am so grateful for their efforts! I wish we saw celebrities get involved in projects like these to help bring awareness to TNR and feral cats. I am so happy that the filmmakers made this documentary and urge everyone to see and support it!!

I’ve seen this very poignant film twice now. It’s both heartbreaking and inspiring. The dedication of the people who give so much of their time, money, and heart to provide these struggling little beings a chance at life is incredibly moving.
