Description

A rare, intimate glimpse into the life and mind of Jordan Peterson, the academic and best-selling author who captured the world’s attention with his criticisms of political correctness and his life-changing philosophy on discovering personal meaning. Christened as the most influential public intellectual in the western world, University of Toronto psychology professor Jordan Peterson skyrocketed to fame after he published a controversial viral video series entitled “Professor Against Political Correctness” in 2016. Within 2 years, he sold over 3 million copies of his self-help book, 12 Rules For Life, and became simultaneously branded by some as an academic rockstar selling out theatres around the world, and by others as a dangerous threat to progressive society. THE RISE OF JORDAN PETERSON intimately traces the transformative period of Peterson’s life while visiting rare moments with his family, friends and foes who share their own versions of the Jordan Peterson story.

Brilliant writer and lecturer, but maybe not the best debater. I don't get why people who go out to sabotage permitted speech events aren't removed from the locales.

4 stars because it’s a picture of a person, not a revolutionary idea. Overall the documentary feels pretty well balanced between the light and darker sides (like most people have) and creates a deeper understanding of who he is. I recommend to anyone “seeking” to understand this.

If you're a serious JP fan/critic the most you'll get out of this is some rare older footage you haven't seen before, but the film itself doesn't bring anything new to the table. Definitely recommend if you don't know much about him.

Jordan Peterson came into my millennial life at a time where I wondered what this society has in stored for an “average” American. He has given me a gift more powerful than words. His intellectual understanding of history, behavioral psychology, and the predisposed acts of human nature compared against or paralleled with the masters of our race are undoubtedly compelling. His works are phenomenal and his attention to detail and self criticisms are human. He is a man who strikes anger and envy in those who can’t comprehend his message due to their feeding into their vices. This man defends his points and statements, every single one of them. His brilliance is radiant which casts many shadows near his feet. He speaks wisdom and waters a trough that many people are thirsty to drink from; since their wells are all but dried. He exudes kindness, generosity, goodwill unto fellow man. Why is he so persecuted? The truth is hard to hear, is it not? Thank you for this film. It was well balanced, displayed the other side and shows a darker side of humanity that the media wishes to bolster up. It shows this man in his sanctuary, how human he really is, and his love for his family.
