Description

In 1989, the Whitbread Around the World Race was considered to be the most dangerous sailing competition on earth. When 26-year-old Tracy Edwards wanted to participate, she was met with resistance and sexism - no team would take her. Left with no other choice, she started an all-female crew, one who would not only take on the vast and foreboding ocean, but also the doubts and attacks from her male competitors and press. In this incredible true story, watch Edwards and her crew attempt to turn the impossible into reality as they take on fifty-foot waves, icebergs and all of the dangers of the great and powerful sea. MAIDEN is a stunning, emotional film that is “a cause for celebration”! (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone)

I really enjoyed this film, and I don’t really care about sailing. It is an incredible story of strength and tenacity. At no point is it too heart wrenching or terrible. This is just a story about a group of women that put there heads down and got to work with little fuss or muss. I did laugh/cry at the end. Also, the interviews with the modern day women of this crew are beautifully shot. It’s almost like a portrait photographer created the shots. They’re lovely!

It starts and stops every 90 seconds. I’m not watching something I have to advance by hand. I’m requesting a refund which should not be a problem.

It is women like this that move humanity forward. Doesn't pull any punches about how insanely hard it was. Tell the real story. Deeply inspiring.
