Description

Johnny Depp delivers a wickedly funny performance as Richard, a buttoned-down college lecturer who, after learning he has six months to live, transforms into a rebellious party animal. To the shock of his wife (Rosemarie DeWitt) and school chancellor (Ron Livingston)—and the delight of his students—Richard leads a hilarious crusade against authority and hypocrisy in this dark comedy costarring Zoey Deutch.

So I still chose to buy this movie even though it has “poor” ratings simply because I’m on a massive JD kick and I think he’s an absolute riot even in films that aren’t outwardly labeled as “humor”. I think this was a great message about dying and going out on a high note.

What a beautiful story. It is not just a comedy. There are so many layers. We navigate the story with Richard’s sense of humor and his appreciation of living in the moment. Makes you think, whether you have 6 months or 60 months to live, at the end there is always death. So why not enjoy life and do all the things we want. I think we all need reminders like this sometimes.

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. The story deals with several themes, such as the meaning of life, death, love, marriage, and friendship. Though the movie's premise seems dark, it’s quite profound and lighthearted at the same time. It’s a philosophical movie, and you will undoubtedly find something to relate to. I highly recommend this film to those who want to be moved rather than just entertained. You will appreciate it. Check this one out!

This film, for whatever reason, didn’t get a lot of promotion, but it is very well written. I laughed even though this is a quirk combination of drama and comedy. Absolutely loved Depp’s. He made the character three demential, and the tender moments with the daughter character are sublime. Rewatching it again tonight.

This movie is wonderfully written, acted & directed. Johnny Depp is at the top of his game with his dramatic acting. This is not a comedy, but rather a touching & gentle portrayal of a man, his family, his profession & his friends. Very well-cast. 👍👍👍

This is one of Johnny Depp's best works. This film was not released in theatres and honestly don't know why. It is subtle about the struggles and lessons of such circumstances. I know this is a very close perspective of how I personally would have handled the same news as Depp's character and it hit home. I won't count how many times I cried...

This movie is really mixed. First negative: 1. Non-stop alcoholics drinking and finding meaning of life at the end of the bottle is pretty pathetic, except for the main character who has card Blanche given his condition. 2. Moral decay- sex with strangers, etc. 3. Hedonism. 4. The meaning of life could be more then oneself and in general people who chose that rout have highest satisfaction because their life had a meaning which is more then simply wondering by oneself by oneself with a dog. There are however some lessons to learn. 1. Carpe diem. Live life fully. 2. Be true to yourself

This film is for those who are open to understanding the complexity of life. There’s a scene where he asks students to leave if they are okay with mediocrity. Any who was not moved by this is one of those students. Incredible movie and acted to perfection. Bravo!
