UPDATE: Apple TV has now indicated there are “two versions” of the film. THIS IS FALSE. There are two DIFFERENT films: the feature film, “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark,” directed by Ovredal, AND a documentary, “Scary Stories,” ABOUT the original book on which the other film is based. THESE ARE NOT RELATED BY ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE SOURCE MATERIAL. Apple persists in mislabeling the documentary as the feature film. AppleTV has goofed big time and labeled a documentary about the original book, “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark,” as the feature film adaptation of the book directed by Ovredal and produced by del Toro. This is NOT the feature film! As of this writing, the Ovredal film (which is what everyone will want to see) is UNAVAILABLE on AppleTV due to this snafu. However I predict many people will fall into the trap of renting this film (the Ovredal film shouldn’t yet be available to rent on ANY platform), believing it’s the feature film. This is an IDIOTIC mistake—one that could only be caused by pencil pushers with absolutely no knowledge of the products they are selling. Extremely disappointed in AppleTV for this mistake.

What a boring waste of money. I didn’t realize it was a documentary. A boring one at that. A handful of people against book banning spoke without much eloquence. I want a refund iTunes. Take this off or list it on page twelve with the boring sh**. At Halloween you need to be more specific with your listings because we are all looking for something a little spooky to watch.
