Not what you’d expect from an Indie film.
  • Chess, not checkers

I got this movie second hand and redeemed the digital code. In hindsight I would have paid full price if I had known about it sooner. This is an amazing film with an intricate and well constructed plot. The acting is top notch with no screen chewing. John Goodman delivers on every level! If you’re looking for straight forward humans vs. aliens action shoot ‘em up, this is not it. As one other reviewer put it “this is chess, not checkers.” This is more akin to how a WWII resistance would have operated. And in all honesty I absolutely did not see the climax of this movie coming!

Sometimes, I've learned here on iTunes, that the movies that are reviewing 50/50 tend to be some of the best. This movie took some chances, took its time, but it was not the standard shallow popcorn-fare we've been inudated with recently. Great acting across the board took a bold script where it needed to go. Maybe a bit slow in parts, I saw some opportunities to cut closer to continuity, but I was never bored. Definitely recommended for sci-fi fans that want something interesting and with depth, but not too arty and avant-guard that it's inaccessible.

Pay attention to the details. Everything is part of a well played plan.
  • Great premise wasted

Interesting premise and fantastic aliens wasted on a plodding, boring terrorist attack. This could have been so much more. Don’t waste your time.
  • Really good movie

As some of the other reviewers pointed out, this was no Independence Day with pew pew lazer every 5 minutes. In fact it had very little actual combat in it. Does that make a movie bad? I guess to a few of the reviewers with ADD. This movie plays chess instead of checkers and leaves you guessing and rooting up to the end. Granted, this movie is not going to win any Academy Awards, but if you want a good thriller for a decent rental price and can stand to actually watch a movie and pay attention, then this one if for you. If you have the attention span of a turnip howevr, as a few who rated it previously, then certainly, this one is not for you.

This movie was probably one of the best alien movies I have watched in a while. The plot, the story everything was just well thought. It isn’t the usual cheesy alien movie with sci-fi battles, it actually depicts a very interesting scenario. If you are looking for just action this isn’t the movie for you, this is a movie that makes you think a lot and the fight unfolds more on the intelligence side rather than guns & explosions.

I went in with 0 expectations and came out really liking this movie. It’s not often a movie makes me think. This one did.
