Description

An estranged father and son are forced to rely on one another to survive an unforgiving wilderness in this riveting, richly emotional thriller. Once a year, fourteen-year-old David (Josh Wiggins) travels from his mother's home in Texas to visit his loner father, Cal (Matt Bomer), in the remote mountains of Montana. There, the two embark on their annual hunting excursion, during which the taciturn Cal attempts to connect with his smartphone-addicted son. But when a terrifying turn of events leaves Cal critically wounded, it's up to the teenage David to summon enough strength for both of them. Infused with a deep reverence for the rugged beauty and harsh realities of the Montana landscape, Walking Out is both a tense survival saga and a disarmingly moving father-son tale.

  • A Waste of Time

A complete waste of 1 hour and 35 minutes. I kept waiting for something to happen. I watched, waited and watched and waited and then it ended in a way where I cursed at the screen. The music score was seriously pathetic. The only redeeming value was the scenery. I can’t believe others enjoyed this movie. Yuck.

  • Don't trust the critics' reviews (as usual).

Saddest, most depressing movie I've ever seen! The only redeeming feature is the beautiful Montana scenery. Let me give you the run-down: A boy and his father go hunting in the mountains; boy accidently shoots father; boy carries father out of the mountains; father dies; roll credits.

Not bad. Nice landscapes, a little bit slow, I guess it´s better for hunters...
  • No "Thriller"

More of a "Survival" plot than "Thriller". Only the acting can be catorgized as "Thriller B Movie" level. The scenery is the best thing about this flop, and all the actors spend way too much time chewing on it. Not worth renting.

Poor acting, slow moving, poorly researched, uninspiring, and simply terrible.

It's even pacing may seem slow to some, however the pace is necessary to establish the strain between father and son. I know nothing of hunting and at first questioend whether I could invest in the movie. I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. It was thoughful and moving with stellar performances. Matt Bomer is sublime and Josh Wiggins proves he can carry a movie on his back (along with his dad). A coming of age, father and son story that will make you pick up the phone and tell your Dad (or Son) you love him.

Verry entertaining, and not over-the-top violent. It was different from every other "man vs nature" movie I've ever seen. Fresh. Definitely watch this entertaining movie.
  • Father, son story amid beautiful snowy Montana

I enjoyed this simple father, son story. An estranged father’s desperation in wanting to share his legacy with his reluctant son. Hunting for survival vs hunting/killing for fear is poignantly stated. The simple story unfolds like a poetry on screen. With minimal dialog & only two main characters it’s easy to get lost in the father-son duo. Wonderful acting, cinematography & an inspired score. Indie movie at it’s best. Don’t miss this gem!
