It's been several months since the Fall of Beacon, and the world of Remnant is still recovering. Tensions are high, lives have been lost, and the members of Team RWBY... are divided. Each of our heroines now faces a journey of their own. While some must search inward if they ever hope to move on, others will venture out into the world in search of answers. Alongside the remaining members of Team JNPR, Ruby Rose has begun the long trek to the kingdom of Mistral, but the road ahead is full of surprises. New friends and enemies await, while the threat of an even larger catastrophe draws near.

I've seen this on YouTube for free so I recommend that before you buy or rent it. But other than that is is amazing I love how the graphics have improved and in this volume is mainly character development and not too much action. I preferred the earlier volumes a bit better though. (SPOILER!ยก!ยก DO NOT READ AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN ERLIER VOLUMES!!!!!) Character development as in Yang losing her arm and moving on, Blake going home to her parents dealing with the White Fang, Wise going home as well and dealing with her parents (mainly her father and brother) and it made me hate her brother and father, and of course Ruby Rose which is going to another kingdom while in team RNJR or JNRR (it's a debate in the show. I like RNJR). That's all I want to spoil so yeah. But just remember this is one persons OPINION, so you might have a different one. I recommend reading other reviews as well and then making your own decision. I hope you like it, but I recommend testing the first episode on YouTube.

Though the story is still great, a lot of things are different (some in good ways, most in bad ways) than the previous volumes. Most outstanding is the graphics. Roosterteeth has really stepped it up in this department. Characters and environment look fresh. However, the animation has completely lost its quality. The animators have failed to continue what made this show so great, and that's fantastic animating of the characters. Along with the poor animating, is poor cinematography. Action sequences and choreography were also very subpar to previous volumes. All their fighting styles have complete changed and are nothing like Volumes 1 and 2. Here's to hoping Roosterteeth can find some better animators who can match the greatness of Monty Oum.
  • Good rebuild

This is definitely a volume where they touch on backstories and rebuild the characters after the last season. As someone who suffers from PTSD they have touched on it well. I hope that they don't just forget about it as they continue on because even though you push through and carry on, it doesn't just leave because you made up your mind that it's over. Most character recreations are amazing, and this volume makes me hold my breath for the next. I hope that I get to see my favorite team again in the next season (Go CFVY!)
  • Soundtrack?

I don't mean to be impatient, but where is the soundtrack? It has been over 3 months since Volume's last episode was released. Please tell me it won't be another month. Great volume though.

I love this show so much. This volume was amazing. I believe the soundtrack will be released on June 16th. That's what I heard. Another great volume, can't wait for volume 5. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I personally preferred volume 3, that's when I thought the show went from good to great. But this was still awesome. Nitpicks first. I felt everything was a bit rushed. The covered everything I wanted to see and more, It just wasn't covered enough for me. Only a little grieving for Phyrha and the rest, yang seemed like she skipped a whole episode in her arc, no one really talked about anything that had happened before, which considering how vol 3 went youd expect them to, the ren/nora arc felt tacked on and didnt even advance much, ect. I guess you could say not much was mived forward, which would be fine as a recuperation volume after 3, but it wasn't even that. However, It's still my 2nd fav volume: the action, humor, animation, acting- most everything is the best we've seen from the show. Some were concerned about the new style and how itd go w/out monty, but It's really been going nowhere but up since day 1. TO SUMMARIZE: The plot, though good, felt a bit rushed and did little to advance the story, but barring that, this is the best the show has ever given us! Love this show!

So I'm going to start by saying that I freaking love RWBY. It's my second favorite thing in the world behind my cat, (I may have also named my cat Blake...) and RWBY: Volume 4 has only cemented that opinion. If you're looking for non-stop action like RWBY: Volume 3, you'll be disappointed. RWBY: Volume 4 is a significantly slower pace than the other volumes, yet that's its advantage. RWBY: Volume 4 takes the time to develop the world and characters through beautifully crafted environments and dialogue. As an animation nerd, I can easily say RWBY: Volume 4 is the most downright gorgeous thing I have ever had the pleasure of seeing! The fluidity, the detail, the shadows, the art style, and the facial expressions (RWBY: Volume 4 has the best facial expressions to ever graze animation, without a doubt.) are the best animation has ever seen! The characters range from the fun and cheery, to the absolute horrifying. This major contrast between characters is rarely well-executed, but RWBY: Volume 4 does it flawlessly! One new character in particular is the scariest villain I have ever seen! His final scene in the volume was one of the scariest things I have ever seen! And that's another surprising element of RWBY: Volume 4; horror. The last act of the volume features the only scenes in any media to ever legitimately frighten me. One new monster in particular (They spent the whole volume hyping it up, and it certainly exceeded expectations!) is the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life! The noise it makes alone is enough to give one nightmares! RWBY: Volume 4's music is the real show-stealer though! The soundtrack is by far the best music I have ever heard! I usually don't like more "modern" music, (I prefer 70's and 80's music.) but RWBY: Volume 4's soundtrack is the best album I have ever heard! It's pure perfection! Overall, RWBY: Volume 4 is both the best volume of RWBY yet, and the best piece of media I have ever seen! Final score: 999,999,999/10
