Description

Benedict Cumberbatch (TV's SHERLOCK, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS) shines as real-life war hero and pioneer of modern-day computing, Alan Turing. THE IMITATION GAME follows Turing as he leads a motley crew of scholars, linguists, chess champions, and intelligence officers in cracking the so-called unbreakable codes of Germany's World War II Enigma machine, potentially saving millions of lives by helping to shorten the war. Also depicted is Turing's tragic fall from grace when he was convicted of homosexuality - a crime in post-war Britain. Co-starring Academy Award®-nominee Keira Knightley of BEGIN AGAIN and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN FRANCHISE.

Benedict Cumberbatch gives an unforgettable performance. This movie is unlike any WWII movie out there because it covers a different kind of battlefront: The one of code breakers. Well worth watching!!

This is a very hard movie to understand at first. It’s a movie about the first development of the computer, the man who invented it, and why it was invented. Best way to sum up the movie. Other than that it was pretty dull.

Mr Cumberpatch portrayed Alan’s role brilliantly and in my opinion should have won an Oscar for it. No matter what happens secrets eventually become known. I was reluctant to purchase this film especially after being told this film was a propaganda ploy, but the story was one that could not be told for years. This is a true story that all must know so that others whom take their every day lives for granted must realize all the sacrifices that others had to endure for us to have what we have today. “...The world is an infinitely better place precisely because you weren’t. I think that sometimes it is the people who no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine.” —Excellent quote that sums up a review of this event in time perfectly. Pay very close attention to this movie and you will learn how you can apply this to your life. Be thankful...especially to those who sacrificed so much so that we can have machines, aka a computer, which is taken for granted nowadays.

This move is great, so long as we remember it is not about Alan Turing. There is a trend for historical fiction to be all fiction and no history; so along as we accept that, this is Mr Cumberbatch's best performance (and one of Ms Knightley's).
