  • Preview Sure Doesn't Help

This has to be the worst preview of a movie on iTunes. I have seen the movie before and while it's quite lengthy it is still a 5 Star movie however for those that have not seen it, the purview sure won't help even one iota.
  • Poor picture quality — no 4K HDR support

This is a gorgeous movie with breathtaking cinematography that is considered to be a masterpiece by many students of film cinema. This makes the absence of the 4K HDR support for this film on the iTunes Store particularly conspicuous. Of note, this film has already been remastered in 4K HDR and is readily available on Blu-ray. Please update Deer Hunter with the remastered 4K HDR version in accordance with modern picture quality standards.

This movie is one of the greatest movies ever done. If you can’t spell De Niro your a moron and shouldn’t leave a review.
  • Perfectly fine length of time

I had to give this 5 stars not only because its a good film, but because some other people were complaining about its 3 hour length, they can watch 8 seasons straight of Game of Thrones but complain about 1 movie thats the length of 2 Disney movies. It’s perfectly fine for what it wanted to convey, grow up.

I wonder how many reviewers saw The Deer Hunter in the theater when it came out over 40 years ago. This movie shook Hollywood and pushed this country to think about war, youth, patriotism in a different way. The length of this movie is a gift. It places you with the characters in a mundane, routine and safe life. The quick, action and violent chaos in the Vietnam scenes are supposed to give you a taste of what that world was about. Do not look at this movie through a 21st century, fast-paces YouTube/Netflix/Amazon lense. You will miss the many kernels of priceless film-making it offers.

Has got to be one of the best films I have ever seen - right up there with "Ordinary People", etc.
  • It's not a film about Nam

In this film, Vietnam is used as a metaphor. The filmmakers were not trying to claim that the Vietcong soldiers literally played Rissian Roulette. War is hell and it brings out the best or the worst in people. With this group of draftees we are surprised by which resulst for which of them. The reckless one becomes the rock they rely on, the stable one falls apart... Life plays itself out unpredictably.
  • You Won’t Get Your Time Back

I read the reviews, I thought a Vietnam war film would be great! I was so wrong. First off the movie is 3 hours long. At this time in the film industry, I don’t believe, they even knew how to properly pace the film, which they didn’t. They spent the entire first hour building the characters, they could’ve and should’ve spent half that. They finally make it to Vietnam an hour and a half in, the best part of the movie ensues. Robert De Niro makes it back, says and does little for another lengthy part of the film, you know he’s going back to Vietnam for Walken he just takes his sweet time doing it. By the time he’s finally gone to get him I’m already done with the movie. This movie is excessively long. An hour AT LEAST should have been edited out. Wasted shots left and right. The character progression for a film of this length is just laughable. Just please don’t waste your time, watch any other Vietnam war movie. I would suggest Tigerland, We Were Soldiers, Platoon, or even Casualties of War.
  • Good movie but way to long

This movie was way too long, mostly in the beginning. The entire movie is in dire need of re-editing. If about an hour was cut out, it would be a better film. Excellent source material, this could have been an unbelievable movie if the writing, directing, and editing were better.
