Description

When a father (Stellan Skarsgård), uncovers his son’s murderer, he begins to unravel. Once an upstanding citizen, Nils embarks on a blood-thirsty quest for revenge that escalates into a full-blown international gang war. With darkly funny humor reminiscent of Tarantino and The Coen Brothers, Nils finds himself caught up in a world not his own – surrounded by drug traffickers, con artists and kingpins, in order to bring his son’s murderers to justice.

  • Odd and violent

The ending was the best part but you had to put up with the rest of it to understand and get it. Good acting, horrible voice over. People just splattering all over the place. Kind of weird.

iTunes should have warned us the movie would be lip-synched. I rented it because actors sounded more convincing in Norwegian and plot was different for a change. Did not finish watching the movie the first time I rented for $0.99. Came back later to re-rent but price was $3.99. I guess I won't find out what happened in the last 45 minutes. Interesting movie and great protagonist (this movie did not bring out his best acting) but not enough to pay almost $5 total.

This is the same as the new upcoming movie “Cold Pursuit” played by Liam Neeson :)
  • I liked it and I watch a movie a day.

Funny (not laugh out loud), violent (but not overly so, or disgusting), and the bad guys (not all of them) get theirs. Pretty scenery. Stellan Skarsgard is dope.

C'mon tell us that the movie is lip synced and in this case not even close. Love Stellan but this is boring!

Peter Debruge of Variety is spot on - the always superb Stellan Skarsgard portrays an uncomplicated man whose joy in life is driving a snowplow to keep an important Norwegian road open. Then a major drug dealer mistakenly kills Skarsgaard's son, thinking the son was party to a theft of a tiny amount of one of the dealer's cocaine shipments. Skarsgard does indeed become as relentless and inexorable as his snow plow in his revenge. Yes, one might think of Joel and Ethan Coen with a touch of Quentin Tarantino here, but it is not a homage. The screenplay uses the snowy desolation to infuse the film with its spirit - when everything seems lost, nothing is left to lose. I'll be happy to buy this film for my collection when it goes on sale. It's that good.

All of the comparisons are correct. This movie plays like: Coens + Tarantino + Taken. Yes it's gratuitous violence in a revenge film, but it delivers on that premise in spades. Beautifully shot, well-acted, & great fun. If you like this kind of fare, you'll love this. See it!

I wanted the boy to end up with Stallen, oh well, that didn't happen.

Suspenseful revenge story with a wry, Scandinavian sense of humor. Excellent acting from all the characters. Kept my interest throughout! Story stayed with me.
