The Brainwashing of My Dad

As a moderate, conservative-leaning centrist, I bought this documentary in the hope of understanding why my previously reasonable boomer parents, like so many of their peers, have been brainwashed into a cultish set of fanatic alt-right beliefs that tend to isolate them from family and friends. The author’s dad, however, is featured in the documentary for 10 minutes at most, and the rest of the film consists of generic and heavily partisan anti-conservative, left-wing propaganda. Most unhelpful. Two stars instead of just one because, intuitively, I find some merit in the hypothesis that immersing socially isolated boomers in an all-encompassing alt-right ecosystem might have something to do with their indoctrination. But why does that happen to some boomers and not others? No psychological or sociological insights are provided. Utterly useless and offensive to reasonable, moderate old-school conservatives looking for answers.

Terrible documentary. Manipulating an old man to create a film narrative should be illegal. At times it seems like the old man doesn’t even know he’s the subject of a film. Pathetic attempt at directing and this director should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of their own father like this. The most cringeworthy film I’ve ever seen.

Media in the United States is far less free then we think (for the large players) and this case study shows directly how it affects and manipulates people into views they don’t hold themselves. You have to see this film!

This is proof positive that the left wants to shut down anyone that opposes them. To say that they’re hypocrites is way too innocent because they want any and all opposing voices eliminated.

A more interesting and relevant documentary would chronicle the indoctrination of young adults during their first few years at prestigious universities.

The liberal mindset is more scary than anything I’ve seen in years. It seems they want to control every aspect and take down and tear down all our past, our histories. If you don’t look at history you won’t know what’s going on that’s why democrats hate conservatives so much. We’re on the rise because they know you can’t forget where we’ve been you have to learn from it and go forward you can’t erase it you can’t pretend it didn’t happen you can’t ignore it but most of all what they’re trying to do today is actually just erase it. They don’t want you to look back because they want to repeat the same old patterns that didn’t work back then many times Socialism has been tried it doesn’t work it’s the most unhappy form of government you will ever see but they keep trying to force it on us - why? And we are the dangerous ones. Because we believe in freedom, self initiative, and most importantly the right to speak our opinions without fear of reprisal. We don’t want the general group think mentality so if you want to be afraid of something look at these people who are blatantly trying to take your freedom one by one.

This documentary sucked, the least they could’ve done was be neutral. So tired of the left being dishonest and phony.

Loved the way they explained a lot of the science behind right wing propaganda and everything they said in regard to the effects on people’s personalities I’ve noticed.

Absolute garbage!

Explains boomers perfectly. Raises valid questions how we are leaving the Information Age and entering the disinformation age. Whether you are right or left, validate what you believe from multiple sources. Not just the propaganda that aligns with what you want to believe.
