It Began
Jonnie Morris is a rapper, songwriter and singer born and raised on the Westside of Detroit Michigan. He is also the son of popular local R&B singer Jonnie Keith Morris.
After his father passed at the young age of five, Jonnie started to listen to hip-hop music as an outlet for his pain and grieving. He would listen to legendary artists such as DMX, Notorious B.I.G, Eminem and Royce DA 5’9.
His access to these artists music and many other rap artists while growing up came as a direct result of Jonnie digging through his uncle’s extensive CD collection of rap music, most of the time without his permission. When he was in 5th grade at the age of 12, Jonnie wrote his first of many rap songs.
Through his raspy and emotional storytelling records about pain, love, mistakes and mental health, Jonnie’s first project, released in October of 2018 entitled “It’s Beautiful and All Good” has been well received by critics and rap music fans around the world.
Daring
Off the heels of that project Jonnie released “Calm Down”, a track that details the struggles of life especially when it comes to chasing your dreams.
Daring to expand his musical prowess Jonnie hit the recording studio once again to record Wiggle Wiggle, a dance worthy track dedicated to his b-boy and b-girl fans around the world.
Soon after, Jonnie went on to record and release a barrage of popular songs including “True Factz” – “Eat Tonight” – “Pay Day Reign” and “That Be That” which fans have deemed instant classics.
Becoming
Jonnie Be Good, the 2nd EP released by Jonnie in early 2019 really moved the needle forward for him in terms of gaining a more loyal fan-base. You can find parodies and user generated videos featuring the music from this EP all across the internet.
In support of the EP, Jonnie traveled across the country performing at numerous events put together by fellow artists and prominent businesses within the entertainment industry.
After a successful media run, Jonnie jumped right back into the recording studio and began intensely working on his forth-coming project.
Arrival
From Jonnie’s new project (Dreams from the Bottom) he has released 3 songs which include “Thank You” – “Dat Bag” and “Whip Watch Chain”. His latest released “TicTacToe” perfectly captures the rollercoaster of emotional choices and sacrifices we all have to make each day.
